I grew up making Chaya for my family, specifically for my mom and her mom. Both passed down this sacred art to me, so I always like to return the favor by giving them a cup after long days. We used to be satisfied with big name Chaya brands from the local Indian grocery stores. But ever since I gave them Kalavai Chaya by Oonyall, they refuse to drink any other Chaya! Like clockwork, they expect their Kalavai Chaya with cardamom by 5 pm on the dot now!

Between the two blends, I definitely prefer Darmona! Both blends are wonderful, but Darmona provides a different kind of comfort after a long day. It reminds me of the Chaya my mother would make me after school, but soooo much better. The best way I can describe it is that it’s like a warm hug in tea form!

Seriously the best you can get. I like to drink mine with a bit of ginger, cardamom, milk, and sugar. Whether you have it with spices, just milk, or black, the complex layers of flavors are sure to have you coming back for more. Delivered fast too and I live across the country!

This product has become a staple in our household. Such a great drink to end a long day with or to enjoy with a book. Cannot recommend this product enough!!

i tried the kalavai chaya podi and it tasted so good! make sure to follow the instructions on the back bc the recipe ensures we get the perfect flavor of tea! in comparison to regular, basic store brands, kalavai really feels smooth and light to drink i could drink three cups a day! it’s definitely on the floral and delicate side and is perfect for a slow and relaxed type of day.

As far as taste goes, Kalavai is really darn good and I don’t think it can be beat. It’s definitely the flavor I’ll be getting going forward. For those that grew up drinking Indian chai it hits the perfect notes of nostalgia.

If anyone is looking for authentic and organic chaiya, this is the podi for you. The tea comes out very rich and you don’t need to put a lot in to get a deep taste which you won’t find in chaiya podis you find in your regular market. Great job Oonyall, looking forward to more of your creation :))
